Myofascial release (MFR) is a therapeutic technique that focuses on relieving tension and pain in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, jointsm ligaments and organs. By applying gentle, sustained pressure to specific areas, MFR helps to release restrictions, improve mobility, and promote overall well-being. Fascia is a dense, fibrous network of connective tissue, which plays a critical role in the structural integrity and functional movement of the human body. It envelops every organ, muscle, and bone, creating a continuous web that provides support, reduces friction, and facilitates movements. Imagine now this thick, sturdy web tightened and squeezing everything contained inside this web. Movements are suddenly stuck or feeling restricted or even pulled from several directions. The therapist may focus on specific areas of pain or tension, working to restore balance and function throughout the body. Myofascial release is rarely a one-and-done treatment; instead, it’s typically administered in multiple sessions to achieve lasting results. (Check Manual Fascial Posture Reset) This approach allows the therapist to gradually address the complex web of fascial restrictions throughout the body, rather than overwhelming the system with intrusive and overstimulating manipulation. Each session builds upon the previous one, progressively softening and releasing tightened areas, improving range of motion, and relieving pain. The goal of this therapy is to realign your body with the ground, your center of gravity and retrieve a sense of freedom in your body.
Note: Before the session, please refrain from applying lotion and/or moisturizer on the skin allowing more efficient outcome.
